Hello, Delvers and happy Thursday! We now are only a week away from this Kickstarter ending! We are excited to have over 1,300backers on this campaign so far, and can't wait to welcome all the new Delvers over the final week.
Today's update will be short, but we wanted to share some free artwork for you all to use as wallpapers on your digital devices! Let's dive into it...
Free Wallpaper Art
Woohoo, free artwork! We have each of the Ruins in the base game available as phone wallpaper and as a desktop wallpaper! You can find the phone and desktop wallpapers in this Dropbox folder!
Check out the phone wallpaper art for the Ruins!
Stretch Goals
This morning, we unlocked The Trio for The Buried Lords expansion!
And we are already making great progress toward our next stretch goal, which adds a New Named Wonder and token in the base game: Hall of Patrons!
Thank You!
Today's playlist to play Unearth to is from Social Media Coordinator Audrey Vail! She chose the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 soundtrack, specifically the Ancient Sanctuary part of the game.
Thanks for an awesome day today! We'll be back with our last update of the week tomorrow.
Meet The Team!

Hello, Delvers! We are officially halfway through the crowdfunding campaign for Unearth as of today. We have just over a week left, and can't wait to see how the rest of this campaign goes!
Last week we introduced Ines, our amazing graphic designer, and Jason and Matt, the two game designers that created Unearth. Today's update is all about the team at Brotherwise, and introducing you all to the faces behind the company.
Meet the Brotherwise Team!
The Brotherwise team continues to grow as the years go on! These are the lovely folks that made this campaign possible:
The core team and the folks that brought you this new edition of Unearth!
Cardner and Audrey are the newest additions to the Brotherwise team. Cardner joined the team as a freelancer back in October 2025, and has implemented project workbooks for each of our projects! She had a big hand in creating the timelines for this campaign, so we owe a lot to her for keeping us on schedule.
Audrey is the newest team member, who joined us in late March as our full-time Social Media Coordinator! Even though Audrey is newer, she has taken charge of this campaign's comment section to make sure she's there to answer all your questions.
This is just a quick look at the Brotherwise team, and doesn't include the many freelancers and part-time contractors we've worked with throughout the years to create our amazing games! We are thankful for each member of our team, and are always excited to showcase them whenever we can.
Stretch Goals
We are very close to unlocking our next stretch goal for the new Buried Lords expansion! You can read more about the Buried Lords expansion in yesterday's update.
This card has a once-per-game ability and is pretty powerful! If you have your d8, d4, and a d6 on a ruin, you can reroll each die, take a stone from the bag, AND draw a delver card! This Buried Lord can set you up for an awesome combo during the game.
Thank You!
Today's playlist to play Unearth to is from our Lead Developer, Hayden Dillard! Hayden chose Nurture by Porter Robinson.
Thanks for another great day. We'll be back tomorrow with another update.
About the New Expansion: Buried Lords!
– Tue, Apr 28, 2026 at 02:44:31 PM
Happy Tuesday, Delvers! We are officially a full week into our campaign, and feeling thankful for the nice comments of support we've received so far. We have a bunch of returning backers and original Unearth lovers here, but we also have quite a few new to Brotherwise AND Unearth on this campaign!
Speaking of new, today's update is all about the new expansion included in the 10th Anniversary Edition: Buried Lords! So read on, Delvers, and learn about these ancient monuments...
New Buried Lords Expansion
In Buried Lords, you'll dig up monuments to those once worshipped by your ancestors. Unlock your lost culture with new cards that grant bonuses throughout the game, and play Songs on Ruins to change the shape of the world.
When playing with the Buried Lords expansion, players will be dealt two Buried Lords cards during set up. Each player will choose a Buried Lord to keep and discard the other. Each Buried Lord card has a unique ability, introducing a bit of asymmetry to the game!
Another mechanic introduced in Buried Lords are Songs. These are a new type of Delver card that can assign an ongoing effect to one Ruin. Only one Song can be placed on each Ruin, so you can use them to shape the destiny of that Ruin. Even though a Song affects every player or die roll on a Ruin, clever Song placement can support your strategy while hindering your opponents.
In addition to the two new card types above, Buried Lords also introduces two new Named Wonders to the mix: The Hollow Sarcophagus and Turret of Silence. There's a lot to love in this new mini-expansion, and we can't wait for you all to try it out once this campaign fulfills!
Last week, a few folks from the Brotherwise team joined Banzainator to play Unearth 10th Anniversary Edition using the Buried Lords expansion! You get to see how this new expansion comes into play in this fun playthrough.
Stretch Goals
This morning, we unlocked the new Song of Preservation Delver card for the Buried Lords expansion. You can play this card on a Ruin so results of 1-3 at this Ruin do not draw stones! This is a great way to get ahead of opponents looking for specific stone to build a Named Wonder.
Our next stretch goal unlocks at $75,000 and introduces another Buried Lord card!
Thank You!
Today's playlist to play Unearth to. shared by Brotherwise Logistics Manager Matt Molandes, is the Terria: Otherworld OST!
We'll be back tomorrow!
About The Art...
– Mon, Apr 27, 2026 at 03:32:31 PM
Hello, Delvers! Happy Monday. We are back with another update today about Unearth, and this one revolves all around the art! Let's get into it.
Behind The Artwork
When we were making this game in 2016, we were looking for an art style that would feel like a natural successor to the pixel art of Boss Monster, but also give the artist freedom to create something stylized, otherwordly, and evocative. We quickly settled on voxel art as the right medium for the game we were imagining.
Fun fact about the Ruins: did you know that the Ruins get more "grand" as the numbers get higher for each Ruin type? Check out the progression on the Mountains Ruins:
You might be wondering, okay, what about the cute little Delvers? Who did those? We ended up hiring David Pietrandrea as our character designer for the Delvers! David played around with a variety of options for our little heroes, but this version captured the whimsy and cute factor we were going for. Fun fact about the Delvers: did you know that each Delver corresponds to your pool of dice for the game?
We wanted to make sure that this game was as gorgeous as it is fun to play, and since the artwork was so loved in the first edition, we didn't want to change it up for the 10th Anniversary Edition.
Stretch Goals
Over the weekend, we unlocked the Archive of the Founder stretch goal, which adds a new Named Wonder and token for the base game!
The build condition for the Archive of the Founders is that there isn't a black stone in your Wonder. If you meet this condition, you can claim the Archive of the Founders! This will allow you to look through the Ruins deck at any time, and is worth 2 points at the end of the game.
A stretch goal getting unlocked means another one is available!
This next stretch goal unlocks at $70,000, and we are almost there!
Thank You!
Thank you for your continued support. As a fun ending note, we are asking each Brotherwise employee to give a soundtrack to play Unearth to. Today we are starting with Jillian, our Marketing Manager! She chose the Outer Wilds original soundtrack. Enjoy!
